Why rubber bands?

Why rubber bands? Why stretchy?

Rubber bands are stretchy (you don't say? like duh!), and I associate that with the learning ability of students and even teachers. Since young I always feel that in life, we ought to keep ourselves stretchy, and to stretch to our limits so that we are able to turn out more flexible than before. In fact, sometimes I do not even believe in having a limit (no.. sky is not the limit), life should be limit-less isn't it?

Yet, different individuals have different stretching capabilities. Some are born tight, while some are perhaps, a bit loose, rendering their different abilities and stretching threshold limits. However, one thing is for sure- Every rubber band is able to stretch. Effectively, that would translate to the fact that every individual is able to learn. Stretching the minds should not be just limited to those who belong in the elite class (which sadly, the term elitism is coined). But in fact, actions of challenging one's minds (be it big or small) will result in stretching their capabilities it a little more.

Not forgetting to say, every individuals should be stretched in different ways. If we were to stretch every single rubber bands with the same technique, I think many of them would snap. Yet sadly, sometimes I feel that our current education system stretches us in the same manner, though now I feel that there's more improvements that are being made. For example, some students will do well in examination situations, while other do not. In the past, I believe the primary mode of assessments would probably be a final year examination, or a major examination, that determines if you make it (or break it). However, in the recent years, other modes of assessments include continual assessments, and team projects provides a more comprehensive way of assessing pupils. The move to remove examinations for primary 1 kids to me serves a good purpose because kids of that age should be taught that education can be made fun.

Education should be fun, fulfilling, enjoyable but yet, serves it's purpose:)
